Top seller on Steam‎

There are surprises in the Steam charts this week: A Destiny 2 bundle, an alien shooter – and Cyberpunk 2077 also lands in the bestsellers again.

Discounts and pre-orders are shaking up the Steam charts this week. And there’s a new leader: Destiny 2. And that’s not the only exciting news – because Cyberpunk 2077 is also making a comeback.

Destiny 2 is the new frontrunner, thanks to expensive bundle

The current top seller has earned its rank exclusively with pre-orders, because the release is still far away: We are talking about Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. The DLC is hotly anticipated by many players and is scheduled for release on 22 February 2022. However, it is not the expansion itself that is fighting its way to the top, but an edition for a hefty 100 euros.

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Deluxe + Bungie 30th Anniversary Bundle – that goes down really smoothly on the lips. This game bundle contains:

– The expansion (without the required base game)

– The Season Pass for Season 16 through 19

– Three new dungeons

– New weapons inspired by previous Bungie games

– Cosmetics, emotes and more

And apparently many players have opted for this offer. However, there are two important factors to consider.

This is how Steam calculates the top sellers: The Steam charts are not about the copies sold, but about the generated revenue of the past week. So an expensive game like the Destiny 2 edition can sell fewer copies than a standard-priced game and still become a bestseller.

Only version in the charts: There are several other pre-order editions for The Witch Queen, but none of them show up in the charts. Only the base game Destiny 2, which has been reduced by 50 per cent, moves up to number 10. This could mean that more players opted directly for the complete package instead of foregoing certain content. However, this cannot be determined exactly until Bungie publishes figures.

What else is happening in the Steam charts?

Another newcomer is in second place this week: the co-op shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Before the release, many players feared a second Colonial Marines, but this time there was a pleasant surprise.

The unusual battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint continues to play at the top and holds its own in 3rd place. Find out whether the Steam hit is also worthwhile for you in the test of the sword-fighting action.

Cyberpunk 2077 is back in the sales charts. A discount campaign is probably “to blame” for this, you can get the game 33 percent cheaper until 6 September (also on GOG). Many people probably feel encouraged to buy the game after the huge update 1.3, after all, many bugs were fixed with the patch and the first DLCs were released.
