The development of the third-person cyberpunk is moving forward: the team has switched to Unreal Engine 5 and is planning a Kickstarter funding.
Although Vigilance 2099 has been in development since at least 2017, the cyberpunk game only really managed to attract attention recently and is already following up. The team of Envoidant Studios not only presents a new gameplay video, but also has two more innovations in store.
If the name Vigilance 2099 doesn’t mean anything to you, you can take a look at our game presentation.
Switching to Unreal Engine 5
At first glance, the new gameplay video doesn’t show that much new: a dark cyberpunk city drenched in neon lights, the protagonist from a third-person perspective and a small shootout. The prototype that the developers present here exudes a lot of Blade Runner flair, just like the first gameplay teaser a good month ago.
The real news is hidden in the details: From now on, Vigilance 2099 will be created with the Unreal Engine 5. Big graphical improvements are not yet visible, but they could still come in the future. In the meantime, the developers have taken the first step towards funding.
Publisher and Kickstarter plan
The studio, which has just three developers, has found a publisher in Behemoth Interactive, a subsidiary of the comic publisher Behemoth. Together, the two companies are expected to launch Vigilance 2099 on Kickstarter in October.
There is no further information about the campaign and the planned funding goal yet. However, details are expected to follow soon.
If you want to keep an eye on Vigilance 2099, you can already put the game on your wish list at Steam. However, you should not expect a release in the near future, because the cyberpunk action adventure is still in an early development phase. A release before 2023 seems quite unrealistic to us.
By the way, Vigilance 2099 is not the only promising cyberpunk game that is dedicated to a bounty scenario. With Exekiller, another open-world shooter is in the works, in which cyberpunk meets western.
