esports and to start with an all-female team

SK Gaming, the esports player foundation and Telekom have founded the “Equal Esports” initiative. It is intended to promote diversity and inclusion in esports and will start with an all-female team.

Women still have a hard time in the esports and gaming industry. There are still too few female representatives in the various areas of the scene. Telekom, the esports organisation SK Gaming and the esports player foundation want to change that with the “Equal Esports” initiative.

Find the “Steffi Graf of Esports “

The project focuses on the promotion and development of female players in the esports scene. First and foremost, an all-female team in League of Legends from Telekom and SK Gaming is to kick off a successful campaign here – the Avarosaproject.

“We want to encourage women to assert themselves in the male-dominated professional field,” explains Alexander Müller, Managing Director of SK Gaming, at the official press conference. The application for the project has already been completed. The line-up for the LoL team will now be determined in several boot camps.

The initiative is also supported by the esports player foundation, which will accompany and promote female talents on their way to the top of the world in the long term with the “Female Player Programme”. This includes regular in-game coaching, fitness training as well as nutrition and sports psychology counselling.

Workshops for parents and teachers

The project is not only intended to sustainably promote female players and talents, but also to prepare them for the life of a professional athlete. In addition to the players themselves, parents and teachers are also to be involved.

To this end, Telekom is planning workshops and the provision of teaching materials to give parents and guardians a detailed look at the industry and to dispel prejudices.
