EA explains in more detail what behaviour is undesirable in Battlefield 2042. In addition, it is now official: The new shooter relies on Easy Anti-Cheat.

Few things spoil the good mood in games as reliably as cheater-infested matches. Battlefield 2042 now wants to go new ways to enable fair competition. On the one hand, EA introduces Easy Anti-Cheat, a new third-party tool that is already used in several games and is considered one of the industry leaders.

On the other hand, the publisher once again emphasises the community guidelines, which establish strict rules and specify concrete consequences for misconduct. We explain how Battlefield 2042 will become fairer and safer. The timing is fitting, after all, the hotly anticipated open beta was recently announced:

New Easy Anti-Cheat

The biggest news is the use of Easy Anti-Cheat in Battlefield 2042. While the predecessor still relied on a mix of different components for cheater defence, the successful third-party provider Easy Anti-Cheat is now supposed to ensure fairness.

Easy Anti-Cheat, for its part, relies on a mix of measures to expose users of cheats. Like the much-criticised Vanguard by Valorant, Easy Anti-Cheat also operates at the kernel level of the operating system. According to experts, this method is the most effective for ensuring the integrity of the game environment and detecting cheats, but it often meets with criticism from players because it requires extensive system rights.

Easy Anti-Cheat is one of the biggest names in the industry and is already used in games such as The Division 2, Hunt Showdown or New World. The complete list of games with Easy contains at least a few titles that have been the talk of the town lately because of many cheaters.

One exception, for example, is Apex Legends, a Free2Play battle royale from EA, which repeatedly received heavy accusations of cheating. The Free2Play giant Fortnite, which also relies on Easy, is also regularly criticised for cheaters.

However, it is not clear to what extent Easy Anti-Cheat or the handling of detected cheaters is the cause. Of course, only time will tell how efficient the tool proves to be in Battlefield 2042.

Rulebook for all players

To ensure an enjoyable and harassment-free gaming experience for all, EA is recommitting to its in-house Positive Play initiative for Battlefield 2042.

In addition, EA introduces new community guidelines that will not only apply to Battlefield 2042, but also to all members of the Battlefield community.

In compact terms, the publisher summarises the so-called Community Charter as follows:

“Battlefield is a globally inclusive and diverse community where every skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion, heritage or country of origin is welcome.
When you join us in Battlefield, you are expected to abide by the following rules:

  • Treat others as you would want to be treated – Get a group together and play the objective together. We do not tolerate players who negatively disrupt others or behave in a harmful way.
  • Keep things fair – Be on the right side of the fight. If you see players breaking the rules, report them.
  • Report them.
  • Share appropriate content – Don’t fight dirty. Make sure the content you share is appropriate for Battlefield players.

Be honourable – Protect your group. In Battlefield, abide by the law and do not participate in or support dangerous or illegal activities.

If you do not follow these guidelines, there will be consequences and your time on Battlefield will come to an end. We may restrict your account and block your access to Battlefield 2042. If you commit repeated or serious violations, we may permanently suspend your EA account. ”

To take action against disruptive behaviour, players can choose several options. In addition, certain measures are permanently active in Battlefield 2042:

  • Players can block and unblock other players in the game so that no messaging or voice chat is possible if desired.
  • A filter for in-game swear words is always active.
  • The option to generally mute text or chat in the game is available. Players can mute either individual players, all players or chat.
  • Players can report conspicuous players directly from within Battlefield 2042 so you don’t have to leave the game.

Battlefield Portal will also offer players various admin tools, such as the ability to impose permanent bans on all custom-created game modes.

Battlefield Community Charter

Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Get a group together and play the objective together. We do not tolerate players who negatively disrupt or show harmful behaviour towards others. Here are some things you can do to make sure you do your part to make Battlefield as welcoming as possible.

Respect others on the battlefield

It costs nothing to treat your teammates with dignity. Work with your team and help new players by giving useful hints

Fight cleanly

Do not harass, threaten, bully or spam. Treat every player with the same respect that you would expect for yourself

Report violations of protocol

Do you observe someone harassing or impersonating another player or engaging in hateful behaviour? Or do you feel unsafe while playing a game? Use the in-game reporting feature or let us know via EA Help.

Report Feedback

Do you have feedback on a specific feature or issue you encountered during your time in Battlefield.
2042? Let us know on our Battlefield forums

Be fair

Be on the right side of the fight. If you see players breaking the rules, report them

Don’t cheat

Don’t do it. Don’t even think about doing it. Cheating includes taking advantage of exploits, undocumented features, design flaws, bugs or other issues that give you an unfair advantage over your opponent. Fair play is an essential part of the Battlefield experience – don’t be the one who ruins everyone else’s day.

Don’t be a nuisance

Actively annoying players by cluttering up chat with distracting messages or blocking other players’ access to the goal is just as bad. Blocking access points to the target is just as bad as cheating.

What’s yours is yours. Protect it.

Don’t trade or sell your EA account to other players or buy an EA account from other players.
This is against our rules and may result in penalties. To keep your account safe, we recommend login verification.

Learn the rules of engagement

Battlefield has a variety of modes with different objectives and rules. Take the time to understand the requirements
of each mode, either with the help of in-game tutorials, other Battlefield 2042 players, or EA Help.

Share appropriate content

Don’t fight dirty. Make sure the content you share is appropriate for Battlefield players.

Think twice before sharing

Always make sure the content you are about to share in-game is not offensive. Do not share or create
Content that is offensive, hateful, indecent, threatening or illegal. This includes usernames, server names and game modes made in Battlefield Portal. If you have to wonder if it’s offensive, it’s probably best not to share it.

If you can’t say anything nice…

Don’t spam the chat with swear words or try to get away with replacing certain letters with symbols. We know what you’re trying to do. It’s not that clever.

Keep things honourable

Protect your group. Conduct yourself legally in Battlefield and do not engage in dangerous or
or illegal activities.

These include
:

  • Extortion
  • Doxxing
  • Drug use
  • Extortion
