Stardew Valley game

Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe aka Eric Barone shared a video last night introducing his new video game. The 2D pixel adventure is titled The Haunted Chocolatier and takes us into the world of chocolate production.

The Stardew Valley fan community is going wild. After announcing he was working on a new project during a livestream, ConcernedApe finally revealed the first footage of his upcoming game yesterday. In Haunted Chocolatier we encounter a cozy world in which we try our hand at chocolatiering. In the process, we encounter an almost familiar scenery: cozy 2D pixel graphics, relaxing electro sounds and an enchanting little town with a lot to discover.

In a statement on Haunted Chocolatier’s new (official website), the Stardew Valley developer explains that his debut work and the upcoming title practically contrasted. While Stardew Valley contrasts the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier deals with the energy of the moon. However, both energies are of great importance to our existence.

Further, ConcernedApe explains that the new setting also symbolises different aspects of life. For example, the mansion inhabited by the player represents the unknown, while the ghost haunting it represents the past. Even though ghosts are represented in the game, Haunted Chocolatier will not be an evil game per se. On the contrary, it stands for a positive and life-affirming world view (similar to Stardew Valley). Furthermore, video and pictures show that the town of the upcoming game is a bit more urban than the sleepy farm town of Pelican from Stardew Valley.

On the development status of Haunted Chocolatier

Last but not least, ConcernedApe spoke about the current development phase. Even if the game in the video above already indicates a high level of development, this is not yet the case. There is still a lot of work to be done before Haunted Chocolatier can be released. But he is working on the game as much as he can and asks for a lot of patience from the community. If he takes a closer look at the comments on YouTube and Twitter, he can be sure of it.
