The MAD Lions were the last hope for Europe. But now their time at the League of Legends Worlds is also coming to an end.
The MAD Lions were the only European team to make it to the quarter-finals of the League of Legends Worlds. But now they too are leaving the World Championship.
Against the reigning world champion
The joy of making it to the quarter-finals was short-lived for the MAD fans, as their next opponent was to be Damwon KIA. This Korean team already managed to win the Worlds title last year and is also the favourite this season.

Today the MAD Lions had to face these very Koreans, unfortunately without success. With a clear 3:0 in the best-of-five series, Damwon won. For MAD it means the end of the World Championship in Iceland. Thus, there will be no team from Europe in the semi-finals.
Although MAD showed an impressive performance in their second game, the Korean team still managed to turn the game around. This victory was mainly due to Damwon’s top laner Kim “Khan” Dong-ha as Kennen and jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu as Lee Sin. With their Ults they could still decide the game in their favour.
