Actually, the possibly saving patch for eFootball 2022 should have been released this week. But those who have not yet given up hope will now have to wait longer.
Konami’s eFootball 2022 has a big problem: It is the worst rated game on Steam – and rightly so, (as we found out in our review)
Since its release just under a month ago, the heir to the once glorious Pro Evolution Soccer series has been in a disastrous state. Actually, patch 0.9.1 should have been released this week, which would hopefully have addressed some of the numerous problems. But the update is still a while in coming.
Patch 0.9.1 delayed until November
On Twitter, the developers have now spoken out again after apologising profusely for the state of the football simulation. In the latest tweet, Konami announces that patch 0.9.1, originally scheduled for 28 October 2021, will now be delayed until early November and will hopefully improve the experience for all users:
Thank you for playing eFootball 2022.
We would like to inform all users that we have decided to postpone the release of version 0.9.1 until early November.
We sincerely apologise for the delay and any inconvenience caused. We hope that the additional time will allow us to ensure that the experience is improved for all our users.
We will announce the date and details of the fixes as soon as they are confirmed. In the meantime, we will continue to work on improving the game and look forward to working with you on eFootball 2022.
We thank you for your patience.

Currently, eFootball 2022 is still struggling with the same issues that make it the officially lowest rated game on Steam: In addition to mobile graphics, optical glitches and broken AI, the hip gameplay in particular caused a lot of criticism of the release state.
At least eFootball has been able to improve somewhat in the Steam reviews in recent weeks: After initially only nine per cent of all user ratings were positive, the figure has now risen to 11 per cent. This means that it is now only four percentage points behind Flatout 3: Chaos & Destruction.
It remains to be seen whether the upcoming patch will be able to further improve the rating – after all, there is still a lot to improve and Konami has not yet revealed which specific changes are planned.
