In addition to the Kotor series, Star Wars characters such as Malak, Revan and Co

The Star Wars series about Kotor created by fans in the Unreal Engine 5 is delayed. But in exchange, a spin-off about Darth Malak is to come in “just a few weeks”.

Knight of the Old Republic will become a mini-series! It’s not officially from Lucasfilm, though, but from fans. And now, unfortunately, later than originally planned. Actually, the project, which is being created in Unreal Engine 5, was supposed to present its first episode in October 2021.

This – obviously – did not happen and the people responsible for the Kotor series are now delivering an update.

Good news and bad news

Kotor series to be later: Episode 1 of the Kotor series was supposed to launch in mid-October 2021. Apparently, this has now come to pass. Those responsible behind the project explain in a new video update that the announcement of the official remake of the Kotor role-playing game and also other reasons are to blame.

Nevertheless, the rest of the development continues as originally planned. It is emphasised that the series has definitely not been discontinued. In fact, the project is being created with the blessing of Lucasfilm and Disney, as long as no material from the films is used for it or profit is to be made from the project.

No concrete release date
: Unfortunately, no new release date was announced for the start of the fan series on Kotor. Whether the series will be released this year, in 2022 or even later cannot be said at this time.

Spin-off about Darth Malak as consolation
: Nevertheless, they would like to offer interested Star Wars fans something in the foreseeable future. In a few weeks, a short film about the Sith Darth Malak is to be released as a spin-off to the Kotor series. Later, more episodes about characters like Revan or Mission Vao are to follow.

By the way, you can see the first scenes of Malak on his ship Leviathan in the following video:
