Update 10:00 a.m.: In the meantime, Rockstar has also published a new announcement on the (Server Status Website). So it should still take some time before you can start again:
What works, what doesn’t?
In short: Nothing is working at the moment! The maintenance unfortunately affects all areas related to launching, activating and updating your Rockstar games. This also affects the GTA Remastered Trilogy, which probably most annoyed players want to start at the moment.
The email from a support staff member also gives us more information on exactly what the impact of the server downtime is:
- Authentication: When a Rockstar game is started, authentication must take place successfully, unless you have already wisely switched to offline mode beforehand. Since authentication is currently not possible, games will fail to launch.
- Downloads: Unfortunately, you probably can’t even start the download of the trilogy or other titles like GTA Online or Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment. So if you were hoping to at least shovel the game files onto your hard drive, you are also doomed to wait.
- Cloud Service: Even if you could play, the next problem might not be far away. Because if you rely on the convenient cloud service for your game saves, you wouldn’t have access to your files at the moment either.
- Store: Good news, at least for your wallet. Your wallet can breathe a sigh of relief because you can’t buy anything in the Rockstar Store anyway. Your account will thank you for it!
