We introduce all the champions who appear in both League of Legends and the new series.

The Netflix series Arcane is well on its way to becoming a cult phenomenon right now. The first season from the League of Legends universe is being received extremely positively. And not just from LoL fans, quite the opposite. You don’t have to know or like the game.

But of course it’s especially cool for fans of the MOBA when a familiar face appears. Because until now, you had to painstakingly piece together the actually very exciting background story from champion descriptions, trailers and short stories. We’ll save you the trouble and present all the characters who appear in both the game and the series here!

Little warning beforehand: Arcane takes place before the events of LoL. This means that those familiar with the game already know about the future of the champions. However, if you’re new to this universe, there are some medium spoilers waiting for you. It’s best to skip the sections on Powder / Jinx and Viktor!

All champions from Arcane at a glance

  • Vi
  • Jinx
  • Jayce
  • Viktor
  • Caitlyn
  • Heimerdinger
  • Ekko
  • Singed
  • Ryze
  • Poro

Vi

Vi in Arcane: In the Netflix series, Vi is one of the main characters. She is an orphan from the miserable undercity of Zhaun and is adopted together with her sister Powder by the former gangster Vander. She literally fights her way through the dangerous alleys, with words as well as with her strong fists. Actually, she only wants to protect her little sister. But Powder turns out to be an explosive powder keg. At least Vi finds a loyal comrade in the enforcer Caitlyn.

Vi in LoL: In the MOBA, we know Vi as a strong melee fighter who causes fear and terror especially on the toplane with her hextech fists. “Piltover’s Enforcer” maintains a very close relationship with Caitlyn, the two even receive a small buff when they fight on the same team. In this cinematic trailer you can see what a well-oiled team the two of them are.

Jinx

Jinx in Arcane: First we get to know Jinx by her real name: As a little girl, her name was Powder (not Paula, as apparently some viewers understood). She is Vis’ little sister, who tries hard and wants to be helpful, but usually makes things much worse in the process. Through a tragic mistake, she is thrust onto a dark path in life and joins the ruthless Silco in Zhaun. She has no regard for anyone, not even her comrades. She loves to blow things up and spread chaos and destruction – but behind the façade lie deep, mental problems.

Jinx in LoL: The shooter appeared in League of Legends in 2013 and drove everyone crazy at first with her speed, high damage and annoying Rocket Ultimate. In the meantime, “The Shooter” is no longer the strongest ADC in the game, but still capable of causing trouble. This music video shows her character very aptly – by the way, the song also appears in Arcane!

Jayce

Jayce in Arcane: At the time of the series, Jayce is still a student at Piltover Academy. He was rescued by a mage as a child and has since been fascinated by arcane energy, which he wants to tame with the help of science. His ambition sometimes drives him too far, which brings him and Professor Heimerdinger into conflict. He is good friends with Caitlyn and colleague Viktor is also one of his close confidants.

Jayce in LoL: Here, “The Defender of Tomorrow” wields a powerful hextech hammer to which he can give various forms. He is completely dedicated to defending his hometown of Piltover, where he is hailed as a hero and genius inventor

Viktor

Viktor in Arcane: The inventor works together with Jayce on the new hex technology that will make magic available to all. Viktor suffers from a serious illness that made him an outsider as a child and now threatens his life. Before he dies, he desperately wants to create something great that will help the suffering people – so that he will be remembered. In desperation, he turns to Singed.

Viktor in LoL: The complex champion Viktor is a mage who can change his abilities when he kills an opponent. He is difficult to master but deals murderous damage. His title is “Harbinger of the Machines” – because he believes that humanity can be saved by technology and lifted to the next level of evolution.

Caitlyn

Caitlyn in Arcane: The young enforcer comes from a high-ranking house of Piltover but is not afraid to get her hands dirty. She is determined to ensure safety and justice and takes great risks to do so. For example, releasing the notorious Vi from prison. An unexpected camaraderie develops between the two – and maybe even a little more?

Caitlyn in LoL: As the Sheriff of Piltover, Caitlyn hunts down criminals with her trusty sniper rifle and net traps. She has a powerful headshot Ultimate that allows her to target a single enemy and inflict high damage. If she plays on the same team as Vi, she gets a small buff. Her worst enemy is the chaotic Jinx.

Heimerdinger

Heimerdinger in Arcane: The professor of the Academy of Piltover sits on the city council and is usually the level-headed voice of reason there. In his 300 years of life, he has already experienced many things, for example the brutal power struggles among mages. He wants to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again in Piltover at all costs, even if he has to go against his own students to do so. Incidentally, he belongs to the small but tough species of the Yordle.

Heimerdinger in LoL: The revered inventor can dish it out pretty good. He sets up turrets and fires grenades at his opponents, apparently having put aside his misgivings about hextech. Heimerdinger is considered a fairly complex champion for the midlane.

Ekko

Ekko in Arcane: The little boy from Zhaun has only a fairly small role in the first act as Vi and Powder’s friend. Although he grows up in a hostile and cruel environment, he is full of drive and optimism. He is even already practising to be a fighter.

Ekko in LoL: In the game he is known as The Time Breaker. As the title suggests, he can manipulate the flow of time using his Z invention. He is extremely mobile and can teleport and dodge attacks with his abilities. As an assassin, he does an extremely high amount of damage in a short time and then quickly retreats back to safety.

Singed

Singed in Arcane: So far, the champion plays only a peripheral role. He only appears very briefly in Act 1 in a scene with Silco, in Act 2 he is a former teacher of Viktor who keeps a sick giant salamander. The poor animal has to be used for cruel experiments because it has a rare genetic mutation.

Singed in LoL
: If you’ve played League of Legends, you may remember the motto Never chase a Singed. Thanks to his nasty gas trail, the champion likes to kill his pursuers if they chase him for too long. However, the crazy chemist is rarely played anymore.

Ryze

Ryze in Arcane: Granted, it’s never stated outright that Ryze is the mage who saves Jayce and his mother. But the rune magic and powerful teleportation don’t really allow for any other conclusion, so we’ll include him here in the list. Maybe he’ll show up later!

Ryze in LoL: The powerful rune mage has been given five reworks in the meantime, which is why his abilities have functioned quite differently over the years. He used to be known as the Rogue Mage, now he is the Rune Mage. His backstory has also been rewritten several times.

Poro

If you feed a Poro biscuits, love comes out. Fair deal.
If you feed a Poro biscuits, love comes out. Fair deal.

Yes, a Poro is not a champion, of course. At most a champion of hearts! But still, the little cuddly creatures appear in LoL as well as in Arcane and have thus earned a mention in our list. Heimerdinger apparently keeps an older one as a pet. The Poros are brave, intelligent and cute, which is why they are quite popular among LoL fans. They hop around on the ARAM map, for example, where you can feed them biscuits.

Maybe we’ll get to know more champions soon? No second season has been confirmed for Arcane yet, but the LoL universe is also being expanded elsewhere. For example, in the upcoming role-playing game Ruined King.
