The action RPG Project Awakening, forgotten by many, comes back with a graphics demo and confirmation of the PC release.

If you’ve forgotten what Project Awakening even was, you’re certainly not alone in that. The role-playing game has all but disappeared from the scene since its announcement in 2018. But now it’s back with an impressive graphics demo and some good news for PC gamers

The open world looks really good

In a stream from developer Cygames, which is unfortunately not currently available anywhere, there were new insights into the open game world that awaits you in Project Awakening. These are not in-game graphics, but an in-engine demonstration of the new Cyllista Game Engine.

The images and lighting scenes look impressive without question – however, it is unclear how beautiful the finished game will really be. It’s best to view the demo as a concept with which the developers present their vision.

What do we know about Project Awakening?

It will be an action and battle-heavy role-playing game with an open, hostile game world featuring dragons and other monsters, among other things. Sounds a bit like Elden Ring and also seems to be oriented towards the Souls games in terms of gameplay.

We know this from the announcement trailer, which you can watch again below. Originally, the game was only announced for PlayStation 4 – but it definitely looks more like a CurrentGen title. In the stream, the developers also announced that Project Awakening will also be released for PC.

There is no release date yet, there used to be talk of 2022, but that’s unlikely to be realistic, you should probably expect 2023 or even later. Project Awakening is probably not even the final title of the game.

The Japanese developer studio Cygames has so far mainly released mobile games and a few console titles that are hardly known in the West. Project Awakening is probably the developers’ most ambitious project to date.
