Riot Games have found their way onto screens and came to stay. The second season “Arcane” is already on its way. Read everything we know about it here.
“Arcane” lit up our dark November in three acts and is now streaming in its entirety on Netflix. The fact that the end is a cliffhanger is something fans can easily cope with, because as Netflix was unusually quick to announce, the second season is already in production. With a score close to 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and storms of enthusiasm on social media, it was also unlikely that Netflix would not bring any more episodes to the platform. For many viewers, “LoL” gamers or not, the animation is the masterpiece of the year and those who haven’t seen it yet should definitely give “Arcane” on Netflix a chance.

The clip lets the sisters look ahead a little to the upcoming episodes. But when are these episodes coming? Many a fan might have been looking forward to the fact that, thanks to the start of production, the second season could be launched as early as next year. But these hopes have been dashed by the CEO via Twitter. The good news is that it won’t be another six years that were spent on the first season of “Arcane”, but he has already ruled out a start in 2022. We can only hope then that it will at least be 2023 and not 2024.

The release, however late it may come, is sure to be a celebration or rather another “declaration of love” from the Rioters to the fans, as co-creator and “Arcane” showrunner and creative director at Riot, Christian Linke, put it in an interview with Deadline.
Neither Linke, nor co-creator Alex Yee, who have both worked at Riot for over a decade, had any experience creating a TV series. “League of Legends is one of the most played free-to-play strategy games, with over 600 million players, and they wanted to create something that would allow non-gamers to enter the world, which they did very well with the story of siblings Vi and Jinx as the pivotal point.
For fans of the game, the series offers the first opportunity to hear the characters talk about themselves and with others, to find out what they eat, where they sleep, what kind of life they lead in Piltover and the district of Zhaun. Arcane” also offers enough material for discussion, because fundamental moral questions of human existence open up again and again during the nine episodes, ambivalence is celebrated, no clear good and evil.
Riot Games has entered the waters of cinematic entertainment for the first time with “Arcane” and has obviously done so very successfully, otherwise Netflix would not produce a second season. However, according to Riot’s President of Entertainment, Shauna Spenley, the company will explore other formats in the future to perhaps bring their game characters to the big screen with live action as a full-length film.
