At the Game Awards, Embark Studios around Patrick Söderlund revealed their new free2play shooter Arc Raiders

After the first short teaser a few days ago, the official unveiling followed at the Game Awards 2021: Arc Raiders, the first game by Embark Studios, already looks like an absolute action cracker.

Everything we know so far about the new shooter from the ex-Battlefield makers can be found in this article.

What is Arc Raiders about?

Arc Raiders is a free-to-play third-person co-op shooter set in a distant future where Earth is under attack by the eponymous Arc – emotionless killing machines that launch an invasion from the depths of space.

Players take on the role of a Raider here: these resistance fighters protect the planet from the mechanised threat. According to the developers, team play is paramount in order to defeat the invaders, some of which are huge. It is also said to be important to use the right tools, gadgets and ammunition types in the fight against Arc.

You can see what it looks like when a group of raiders brings a giant robot spider to its knees in the brilliant and musically excellent Reveal Trailer:

Battlefield creator Patrick Söderlund, who is co-founder and CEO of Embark Studios, is excited about the Reveal and promises more info in the coming months:

We started Embark Studios three years ago with a blank canvas and some big ideas. Today, that canvas is much less blank and those ideas are becoming a reality. With this reveal, we want to celebrate the gameplay and give players more than a hint of what ARC Raiders looks and feels like to play. After all, that’s what matters most in a co-op action game like ARC Raiders. We look forward to sharing more about the game in the coming months.

The game will be released in 2022 for PC via Epic and Steam, the game streaming service GeForce NOW, and for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
