Some like crossplay, some don’t. We have the solution for both parties here and explain what you need to do in Fortnite.

As in many other games, there is also crossplay in the popular Battle Royale Fortnite. This means, for example, that console players can also compete against PC players online and the platform on which you play does not matter.
You can find out how to activate or deactivate the function here.

Enable Crossplay

In principle, console players always play against other people with consoles. The same is true for PC and mobile phone users. But with crossplay, this can be changed.

To enable crossplay in Fortnite, an Epic account is necessary. So if you play on your mobile or PC, this step is already done. For console players, this means that they should connect their Xbox or Playstation account with an Epic account. To do this, go (to this page) and click on the profile icon at the top right, where you can then connect your account with an Epic account. On the Switch, you will also need to create an Epic account.

Then you should first add your friends in the selection menu. To do this, however, console players must first download the Epic launcher, which can also be done on the Fortnite page. Remember to use the names of the Epic accounts you have created previously.

Disable Crossplay

Some players simply don’t want to play Fortnite against people from another platform. Here, too, there is a solution, because crossplay can very often simply be deactivated in the settings. On the PS4, you can find the option “Activate cross-platform play” under “Game” and then turn it off. On mobile and the Switch, it works the same way.

On the Xbox One, it’s a little different. There you have to go to the Xbox settings and then under “Account” to “Privacy and Online Security”, “Xbox Live Privacy”, “Details” and then under “Communication & Multiplayer” turn off crossplay.

If you switch off cross-play, you must also bear in mind that the search for a game will take longer. Nevertheless, you should no longer encounter players from other platforms.
