Geographers have combined information from the books and games of the Witcher universe to create a detailed map of the fantasy world.

In the world of the Witcher universe, there are countless countries, rivers, cities and villages. Anyone who has seen the Netflix series, picked up a sword themselves in Witcher 3 or its predecessors, or even read some of the books about the Witcher Geralt, knows the score.

Books and games offer maps for better orientation in the big world, but these usually only show a section of it or offer a rather rough overview in the style of ancient maps:

Geographers at the University of Warsaw apparently wanted to change that and have created an extremely elaborate topographical map of the Witcher world. On the (website of the University) you can find the map in high resolution.

Map brings together books, games and more

Researchers at the University of Warsaw say they have combined information from Andrzej Sapkowki’s books and other works set in the world of the sorcerer Geralt. The map shows places that also appear in the games, comics or the Netflix series. For example, you will find the city of Vergen, which previously only appeared in Witcher 2 and is located in the north of the kingdom of Aedirn. In addition, the geographers have invented other suitable names for places and geographical objects to fill the map.

The most detailed map of the Northern Kingdoms

While the impressive project resembles already known maps of the Witcher world on the whole, it contains much more precise information and details compared to these, for example regarding the course of rivers or borders, the location of islands and the population figures of cities. The distances between the locations of the fictional continent can also be seen in detail.

The map is therefore perfect for getting an idea of how long Geralt would have to ride from Kaer Morhen to Cintra, where exactly Wyzima is now, or which cities are the largest in the world of Witcher. Even though this may not be great news, it’s worth a look at the map for Witcher fans.
