EA announces Jedi sequel, first-person shooter & strategy game

Respawn has the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in development. A shooter and strategy game are also in the works.

EA announced three games in the Star Wars universe in one fell swoop. On the one hand, Respawn Entertainment is, unsurprisingly, developing the sequel to the successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

On the other hand, a new first-person shooter is also in the works there, under the responsibility of Medal of Honor producer Peter Hirschmann. He is looking forward to the project:

Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, because I’ve always wanted to tell this story.

And that’s not all: Respawn is also working on a new Star Wars strategy game with former XCOM and Civ developers who have come together under the Bit Reactor banner. More info can be found in the official (Blogpost).

Who’s Behind

The selection of those responsible for the new games is particularly interesting. Vince Zampella acts as the main person responsible for the new projects. The founder and his studio Respawn Entertainment are at the helm of all three titles. For the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Stig Asmussen, who worked on both the predecessor and the God of War series, steps up as game director.

But there are also other big names involved: Game Director Peter Hirschmann from Respawn is holding the reins for the upcoming first-person shooter. He was the producer of the very first Medal of Honor and, also importantly, involved in several Star Wars games in a leading position, including the two old multiplayer shooters Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) and Battlefront 2 (2005).

The newly founded studio Bit Reactor is working on the new Star Wars strategy game. Although not much is known about it yet, the developers based there have experience with brands like XCOM, Civilization and The Elder Scrolls Online. This naturally suggests a turn-based strategy game at first glance.

For the new Star Wars games, various people are at the helm who have already had great success in general and especially with the Star Wars brand. This should give fans hope that good games will be created in the end. However, it is still too early to tell, as the three projects have only just been announced and are still in their infancy.

We can hardly save ourselves from new games at the moment! Not only Star Wars, but other exciting brands are getting digital offspring soon. Watch our video above to make sure you don’t miss any new announcements.
