Even after many years, city builders in Cities Skylines still get new features – this time even for free as part of a new update.
Although Cities: Skylines was already released in 2015, the mix of city planning and traffic management still captivates numerous people who love planning in front of their screens. That’s why a new content package was recently released with the Airport DLC, which even made it to the top of the (Steam bestseller charts) for a short time. And a look at the (current player numbers) also shows that the game doesn’t seem to be running out of steam by any means.

But even those who haven’t bought the new DLC yet can rejoice. The developers have released another update – this time free of charge for all owners of the main game. We’ll now tell you which improvements and new features it contains.
Improved AI and new assets for everyone
Top of the list of new features: The AI of the planes has been improved, so they should no longer fly in endless circles over your city and pollute the air. In addition, more passengers are now carried per flight, but this also applies to other means of transport heading for your city.
Another improvement concerns the landscaping, or rather the placement of trees along a street. If you want a different roadside greenery, you can now select the desired tree in the menu and simply click on the street concerned. Palm trees instead of elms? No problem from now on! This process is also free of charge and does not burden the budget of your metropolis.

Thanks to the integration of 14 new landscape objects, created by Cities Skylines modder MrMaison, you also have even more choice when it comes to trees and other objects. But that’s not all:
You now also have the possibility to assign custom vehicles to your urban service buildings. This is done via a new button in the info tab of the building. This allows you to create more visual variety in the city.
Last but not least, buying and selling land should also be easier, which should save you time and, above all, nerves. So you see, even non-owners of the new DLC suddenly have several good reasons to visit their city again, or even to start a new one.
But if you are much more interested in a new construction game, Highrise City might be something for you. The German studio Fourexo Entertainment not only wants to pick up Cities Skylines veterans, but is also poaching in Anno territory.
