A new week, a new free game at Epic, also in the new year. Starting next Thursday, you can grab the open-world platformer Yooka-Laylee and the Unreachable Lair. Until 03 February, on the other hand, you can also get the mech action game (Daemon X Machina) for free in the (Epic Games Store)

The sequel to 2017’s Yooka-Laylee also relies on the premise of exploring numerous jump ‘n’ run areas in an open colourful fantasy world. Fans of classic arcade Nitendo games like Donkey Kong, Mario and Banjo-Kazooie should definitely pick it up! With your hero Laylee you have to collect feathers and other collectibles and defeat your arch-enemy Capital B. Both the music, the art style, the fun gameplay, which is well ported from the Switch, and the witty storytelling style are fun and a perfect free title from Epic Games for in between.
The 2.5D platform levels are nicely varied and can even be tackled in two different versions, each with their own special features and difficulties. Similar to the B-Sides in Celeste.
