The launch of the Call of Duty League is just around the corner. In CoD: Vanguard, the best professionals in the world compete against each other. Each day of the finals will be broadcast on ProSieben MAXX.
The brand new season of the Call of Duty League (CDL) officially starts on 4 February. To be eligible for the first Major of the year, teams will first compete in the Online Qualifier. All the information you need to know about the CDL and its major events can be found here.
Back in January, the world’s best CoD pros fought exciting duels in the CDL Kickoff Classic and heated up the atmosphere. Team Toronto Ultra was able to prevail against all opponents and snatch victory for itself. A full programme awaits CoD fans in the CDL 2022 Season. In a hybrid model, the four majors will take place. The professional players will take part in the tournaments both offline and online.
ProSieben MAXX will broadcast the CDL
German fans of the Call of Duty League can experience the mega event. ProSieben MAXX will show the Major Finals from 23:30 on each day. Thus, the best that CoD has to offer will be broadcast directly to the TV at home.
Each major event will last just under four weeks with qualifiers and the actual main tournament. In the first three weeks, teams will qualify in online matches for the live event, where even fans will be allowed to be on site. In the qualifying matches, each team competes against another random team in five pre-determined rounds.

In addition to the four Majors, there will also be a Midseason Tournament. There, in addition to a Pro-Am Classic, in which professionals and amateurs compete, a competition for Call of Duty: Warzone is also planned. CoD fans can expect to see pro players as well as streamers and influencers at this event. The All-Star Weekend will kick things off. This event, as well as the Warzone Pacific Tournament, will take place online. The Pro-Am Classic is planned as a LAN event so far.

CDL Championship Produces World Champion for Season 2022
Once again this year, a champion will be crowned in Call of Duty. The top teams that have received the most points in the four Major Events qualify for this. However, it has not yet been announced when exactly the playoffs and the Championship Weekend will take place.
The venue and the prize money are also still unknown. Last year, the CDL Championship took place in August.
These teams compete against each other
This season of the Call of Duty League will feature 12 teams competing against each other. The two biggest groups from last year, Dallas Empire and OpTic Chicago, have merged into one team and are now competing under the name OpTic Texas. In addition to the familiar faces, there are also new franchises on the roster. Boston Breach will be particularly watched, as the new team is owned by Robert Kraft, the owner of the American football team New England Patriots.

These twelve teams will meet in the Major tournaments. Only the top eight organisations in each event will be admitted to the live event and finals and would have a chance to win the tournament and the prize money. Last year, US$500,000 was paid out for a Major final, but an exact amount for the current season is yet to be announced.
The game modes at the CDL
In the Call of Duty League, the twelve teams will compete in three different modes. The pros will show off their skills in Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Control. However, according to Daniel Tsay, the general manager of Call of Duty Esports, there will not be 3rd Mode in Warzone, as this will always be Control.
The Search and Destroy game mode will include Tuscan, Bocage, Desert Siege, Berlin and Demyansk as maps. For Hardpoint, it will also be Tuscan, Bocage, Berlin and Desert Siege and will be complemented by Gavutu. Some weapons and attachments will also be banned for the CDL. All shotguns and LMGs are banned, as well as the Combat Shield and any type of launcher.
Every type of ammunition, silencers and also some sights are also banned for the Call of Duty League competition. Besides the Akimbo, the Perks Dauntless, Ghost, Tracker, High Alert, Forward Intel, Piercing Vision, Overkill and Tactician are missing. However, the exact set of rules may change before the start of the tournament.
