If you want an overview of all the upcoming changes, take a look at the packed roadmap:
Release: When does Season 2 of Warzone start?
After a postponement, the new release date is February 14, 2022, so if you’re still looking for Valentine’s Day ideas, a few rounds on Caldera is sure to set the romantic mood.
The Vanguard update will be available for download a little earlier, namely from 10 February. Presumably the 2nd Season will last about eight weeks as usual. A mid-season update has already been confirmed.
Size: How big will the download be?
There is currently no information on this. Season 1 was a pretty big download, with 40 GB or more. However, it also included the complete new Pacific map Caldera and the new Vanguard game modes. Season 2 should therefore be a little more compact again. By the way, you can read everything important about the map here in our guide:

Weapons: Which ones are new?
Of course, Season 2 continues to stock up the armoury of Warzone and Vanguard. This time with three new guns and a melee weapon:
- KG M40: New Assault Rifle available at the start of the season
- Whitley: One of the first War MGs will also be available at the Season launch
- Eispick (in the course of the Season) : Misused, this tool is also good for knocking down Operators in close combat
- Armaguerra 43 (during the Season) : SMG that you either have to unlock through a challenge or buy as a bundle
Map: What’s changing on Caldera?
With Season 2, new locations are added to the Pacific map: the chemical factory and underground labs.
Chemical Factory: It replaces the facility between the mines and docks where phosphate was previously processed. Instead, the combat gas Nebula V is now produced here. The layout, however, remains very similar to before, you can still wade through the river. Don’t be put off by the green colour, I’m sure the stuff is completely harmless.
Underground Labs: There are a total of seven secret labs spread across Caldera, marked in yellow on your map. Watch out, there is valuable loot and good cover here, but only one entrance at a time – so the facilities can easily become death traps.
Gameplay: What gameplay innovations are coming?
New vehicles: In Verdansk there were already motorbikes and armoured trucks. They are now returning with a WW2 touch, but according to the roadmap only for multiplayer. Instead, a special event with heavy transporters awaits you in Warzone, read more about it below.
New aircraft: The leaks were right, a new bomber will take to the skies over Caldera in Season 2. Most excitingly, these planes can destroy loadout drops and anti-aircraft guns! You can really spoil your opponents’ day with them. But beware of the smaller, more manoeuvrable planes that will target you.
Redeploy Balloons: You already know this from PUBG, now you can also let balloons carry you into the sky in Warzone. The Redeploy points can be seen flashing on the map. You hook up to a zipline, soar upwards and then sail comfortably over the island with your parachute, just like jumping off to start a round. However, the balloons can be destroyed, which can give you a rough crash.
By the way, an announced change to the loadouts caused a streamer to immortalise Raven Software’s logo on his butt:
Event: What’s behind Search & Deploy?
Here again, the leaks were spot on: Season 2 has a special event coming up that revolves around combat gas and truck convoys. The thickly armoured vehicles roll inexorably across the map, much like the Verdansk train. They carry Nebula V and shoot at any operator who gets too close.
Why should you take them on anyway? Because a destroyed truck drops really valuable loot, sometimes even one of the new Nebula bombs that envelop an area in deadly gas for two minutes.
The future of Warzone: Just recently, several well-known and well-informed insiders claimed that CoD Warzone will surprisingly get a sequel soon. According to this, Warzone 2 will be a game all of its own. How many big changes will be made to the Battle Royale before that? Stay up to date with us.
Warzone 2 is literally that… Warzone 2.
Current gen and PC only… No past weapon integrations etc.
A completely new game for the better hardware.

What’s new in CoD Vanguard?
Season 2 of course also brings a lot of innovations for the multiplayer and zombie mode of the current main game. A quick overview:
- Two new maps: The mid-sized Casablanca (Morocco) and the also mid-sized Gondola map, where you can, well, ride a gondola.
- New Perks: Armory is the counter perk to Engineer, Mechanic provides a buff to field equipment.
- New Killstreak: Use the Ball Turret Gunner to fire at the map from the air for 30 seconds, dealing massive damage. Unlocked with 12 kills in a row and is correspondingly powerful
- Zombies: New hub map, new arenas, a new artifact power and two “wonder weapons” – the neglected zombie mode gets more meat in Season 2.
