With Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo and Sifu, Playstation has made a decent start in 2022. However, the next big exclusive blockbuster title Forspoken is now being delayed by a whole 6 months, as publisher Square Enix has confirmed via Twitter. The additional time is to be used primarily for fine-tuning the action adventure game.
Rumours of Forspoken postponement prove true
Forspoken was announced a year ago by Final Fantasy studio Luminous Productions and was set to be another new triple-A IP at Playstation. The open-world action adventure in a fantasy-likeness setting already convinced with the first images and the story trailer with strong graphics and fresh combat system based on various spell abilities, which the main protagonist Frey channels through her magical (even talking) bracelet.
Forspoken was originally supposed to be released this March, but apparently the makers are not yet satisfied with the finished state of the game. They may even want to redevelop and improve some aspects entirely, as the six-month delay is quite a big one after all. Now, as of now, Forspoken will be released on 11 October 2022 and hopefully become the next big Playstation highlight. Will God of War Ragnarok by Santa Monica Studios also be released this year?

In any case, postponing Forspoken is a brave but also good and important decision. After all, it gives the developers more time to finish the game without, or with only minimal crunch. And thus also to work off our Pile of Shame and look forward even more to this year’s gaming autumn.
