Turbo Overkill will be released on 22 April via (Steam) – and heralds the release with a new brute gameplay trailer. In front of the neon-lit cyberpunk city backdrop, the first-person shooter sets off massive fireworks and takes oldschool titles like Doom and Quake as its model.

However, Turbo Overkill is not only meant to feel “retro”, but also weaves in modern elements such as a grappling hook, wallrunning, weapon upgrades and a talent tree. You can also further upgrade your cyborg abilities by stealing skills from defeated bosses.

The story revolves around Johnny Turbo, who has been converted from a human to a fighting machine and now carries chainsaws in his leg and rocket launchers in his arms. With his arsenal, he takes on the out-of-control mega AI Syn, who controls the entire city (and with it an army of gangsters, robots, drones and the like).
