A new part of Call of Duty will be released again this year. We collect what is known so far and what known insiders are already revealing.

The next Call of Duty will be released in 2021 and will run parallel to CoD Warzone. Publisher Activision is not yet revealing much more about the new part of the series, but some exciting information has already leaked out. We collect all official information and leaks from reliable sources. Read more about the reveal, the setting and the developer in our overview.

This article will be updated as soon as new details become known – for example, about the possible integration with the battle royale Warzone.

This is what is known about Call of Duty 2021

Reveal: When and how will Call of Duty 2021 be unveiled?
According to Tom Henderson, Warzone is to play a central role in the Reveal of CoD 2021. Like Cold War, the next Call of Duty will be unveiled in Battle Royale. So we may be in for another weeks-long unveiling campaign, with snippets of info only being released bit by bit.

The reveal of a new CoD usually takes place in May, but Cold War wasn’t announced until August 2020. In any case, we expect CoD 2021 to be officially unveiled in the summer of 2021.

Title: What is the name of Call of Duty 2021?

The title of the next CoD has not been revealed yet. Some fans suspect that it could be called “Guerilla Warfare”, but there is no reliable information on that yet.

Release: When will Call of Duty 2021 be released?

Although no official release date is known yet, we at least already know that the new CoD will definitely be released in 2021. So far, the games in the series have always been released in October or November, usually on a Friday. Possible dates for the release of Call of Duty 2021 would therefore be, for example, November 5 or November 10.

Studio: Who is developing Call of Duty 2021?

For Call of Duty, three developers rotate through under the mantle of publisher Activision: Infinity Ward (Modern Warfare), Treyarch (Black Ops) and Sledgehammer Games (WW2). The studios are vying with each other, so to speak, to see who will get the next nod. Reliable insiders agree that this time Sledgehammer has made the race and will develop Call of Duty 2021.

It would have been Sledgehammer’s turn in 2020, but then they helped with the development of Black Ops: Cold War under Treyarch. The last CoD to come out of Sledgehammer was WW2, which came out in 2017. The studio was also responsible for Advanced Warfare.

Setting: Where and when is CoD 2021 set?

The setting is also not yet officially known, but according to insider circles, 2021 will once again be set in the past, possibly in the 1950s. At that time, for example, the Korean War, the beginning of the Vietnam War and the Suez Crisis took place. The well-known leaker Okami assumes that the Korean War will be at the center.

The well-informed insider Tom Henderson, who has since had to remove his tweets, reckons that this time it will be about a guerrilla war. That could speak for a Vietnam setting.

Both Henderson and the well-known leak portal ModernWarzone deny that Call of Duty 2021 might be set in World War 3.

Platform: What will Call of Duty 2021 be released on?

In all likelihood, Call of Duty 2021 will be released via Battle.net for the PC as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. A release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will probably not happen. This would make it the first CoD to be released only for Current Gen.

Warzone: How is Call of Duty 2021 related to BR?

Whether CoD 2021 will be linked to Warzone in the same way as its two predecessors, Modern Warfare and Cold War, is still unclear. Activision only announced during an investor call on February 4 that the Battle Royale and the new Call of Duty will run “in parallel.”

What is certain is that Warzone will continue to be the big driver of Call of Duty in the future. The successful Battle Royale will definitely continue, even independent of the annual release cycle: Currently, the second Season 2 in Warzone is running.

Are you looking forward to the new Call of Duty 2021? Maybe you’re still fully satisfied with Cold War – or are you only interested in Warzone anyway?
