An illegal leak of Victoria 3 has moved parts of the community to criticise the upcoming strategy game.

An unfinished version of the upcoming strategy game Victoria 3 by Paradox Interactive has leaked onto the internet. For the first time, the executable game appears to have surfaced on the notorious forum 4chan.

Since then, Victoria 3 has been circulating on dubious websites and being distributed by torrent users. Although it is obviously an alpha or beta version, some players are taking the illegal leak as an opportunity to criticise the game on a grand scale.

Criticism of unfinished product

The (Subreddit) of Victoria 3 is currently literally overflowing with posts discussing the gameplay of the unreleased game. Apparently, numerous players have pulled the title from the internet and are now playing it.

Although it can often be read that Victoria 3 is a lot of fun, some users go to extremes to complain about various aspects. Among other things, the trade function, the war system and the AI are the focus of the critics.

Particularly bizarre: there are even isolated complaints about bugs and game errors. However, it is not always clear whether this could be sarcasm. After all, the leak is not the official release version.

It is not known from which development phase the leaked version of Victoria 3 originates. Therefore, it is not possible from the outside to assess the extent to which the criticism expressed could contain valuable information for Paradox.

It remains to be hoped that the leak at least has a positive side and that the developers can possibly draw useful feedback from it. However, this probably does little to mitigate the damage caused by the involuntary Early Access.

This is doubly annoying, as Paradox has so far been very reticent with information and especially gameplay on Victoria 3. Which can also be seen in the telling, but gameplay-less teaser:

What do you draw from this leak? Do you think the criticism is reasonable or completely inappropriate? Post it in the comments!
