A new Star Wars game has been announced! The action-adventure game puts a big focus on story, is being made by Skydance New Media and former Uncharted writer Amy Hennig.

Another new Star Wars game! As (Lucasfilm and Skydance New Media officially) announced, the development studio of Uncharted author Amy Hennig is creating an action adventure game that will focus on the story. However, many questions still remain unanswered. We summarise everything worth knowing for you.

What is known about the new Star Wars game?

The official announcement of the new Star Wars game is limited to the bare essentials. In the following list you get a compact overview:

  • Official Title : Unknown
  • Release Date : Unknown
  • Story, Characters and Setting : Unknown
  • Development Studio : Skydance New Media
  • Who is responsible behind the scenes? Amy Hennig, Julian Beak, Todd Stashwick
  • What is the project described as? Cinematic action-adventure with a new story set in the legendary Star Wars universe

As you’ll notice, concrete information about the new Star Wars game remains manageable. For example, we don’t even know the title of the project, what exactly the game will be about and when it will be released. There are also no screenshots or even a trailer at the moment.

It is therefore obvious that the project is in a very early development phase. This means that it will probably be quite a while before we see anything tangible about the planned game by Skydance New Media and Amy Hennig.

Amy Hennig’s second attempt

Star Wars fans might find Amy Hennig’s new project for it familiar. The Uncharted author already worked with Visceral Games on a game set in the War of the Stars universe, which was cancelled by EA. Incidentally, Julian Beak and Todd Stashwick, who already worked with her at Visceral, are now also involved in Hennig’s new project.

Project RagTag was supposed to be a single-player title with a strong focus on the story and tell a dark heist story. However, EA closed the studio behind games like Dead Space in October 2017 and with that, Project RagTag was deemed to be discontinued.

What does the gaming future hold for Star Wars?

Since 1983, at least 22 different Star Wars games have been cancelled. What exactly we’re missing out on with titles like 1313, Battle of the Sith or Project Assault, we’ve summarised for you in a big overview. Nevertheless, it is worth looking to the future. Among others, the following Star Wars games are currently in development:

  • the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by Respawn
  • a first-person shooter by Respawn
  • a strategy game by Respawn
  • Star Wars: Eclipse by Quantic Dream
  • the remake of Knights of the Old Republic by Aspyr
  • an open world game by Ubisoft
