Escape from Tarkov is far from finished (and is still offered as a pre-order including beta access by the developer Battlestate itself), but suddenly the studio announces a new shooter: Escape from Tarkov Arena.

The trailer already hints at what we can expect in the new standalone spinoff: instead of hunting for loot in a huge open world, unusually fast gladiator-style battles in small arenas are on the agenda. The scenes may be reminiscent of the gulag from Warzone or gunfight matches from Modern Warfare, but they will not be as casual as those in CoD & Co: According to Battlestate, “all the well-known and popular hardcore mechanics from Tarkov” will be present. Escape from Tarkov features a complex inventory and injury system with bleeding or broken bones as well as deep weapon options.

EFT Arena is said to offer its own PvE and PvP variants as well as its own progression and unlock system for new weapons. Those who own the 140 Euro Edge of Darkness version of Escape from Tarkov will be able to download Arena for free, but all others will have to pay extra – the price has not yet been announced.
