Many players have been wishing for a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077 for quite some time, and patch 1.5 might have provided the basis for it.

Cyberpunk 2077 could soon make a big wish of many fans come true. This is because Patch 1.5 may have laid the foundation for a new Transmog system. This means that players will finally be able to dress V in clothes without having to pay attention to the stats. We provide you with all the info on the discovery – and what the developers from CD Projekt Red themselves have to say about it

Why Transmog could be coming soon

Why many players miss Transmog

Clothes play a big role in Cyberpunk 2077. Countless clothes come with different values, which become very important especially on the higher difficulty levels. Because without sufficient armour or certain buffs, you will quickly lose out in the game’s countless confrontations.

Unfortunately, in Cyberpunk 2077 you cannot currently change the appearance of your most valuable and powerful items of clothing. This means that you can’t dress V the way you want if you don’t want to make any gameplay sacrifices. The result of this is often fashionable crimes for which V should really be court-martialled.

Another problem here is that players in Cyberpunk 2077 constantly find new and better loot that replaces previous outfits. So once you have finally found an outfit that you like and at the same time has good stats, it is quickly replaced by your new loot.

That’s why many players – and GlobalESportNews readers, according to our polls – want a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077, so they can customise V’s appearance without sacrificing gameplay.

What exactly does patch 1.5 promise?

Could Cyberpunk 2077 get transmog? At least the discovery of Reddit user DJ_Kovrik gives hope for that. He points out that there is a command in the game’s files that can be used to make used equipment invisible – specifically, clothing for the head and face.

Interestingly, this command is referred to in the game files as Transmog . Of course, this is not exactly the function that players would have hoped for in Cyberpunk 2077, but it at least goes in that direction already. The foundation for a real transmog system could have been laid here.

The command is basically turned off, but can be enabled by the console command Game.EnableTransmog() . DJ_Kovrik also refers to his own mod, which allows the command to be applied to all clothing slots.

We also want to see Transmog! By the way, a Transmog system is also a hot favourite among our wishes for Cyberpunk 2077 in the year 2022!

What CD Projekt Red has to say about it

CD Projekt Red itself gives hope: Then in June 2022, the reaction of Cyberpunk 2077’s official Twitter account to a fan’s post caused a stir. In the course of his post, the user Ren_Okage expressed how much he would like to see a transmog system for the role-playing game. CD Projekt Red commented with a promising emoji – and certainly not without reason:

What does that mean exactly?

It is quite possible that the extensive patch 1.5 should have actually brought a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps the developers were simply unable to finalise this function, which is why the remains of the files can now still be found in the game’s code.

So we can at least hope that upcoming updates like patch 1.5.1 or patch 1.6 will deliver a proper transmog system. We have asked CD Projekt Red what the chances are for this and will of course let you know as soon as we receive an answer.

What’s next for Cyberpunk 2077

Patch 1.5 has brought Cyberpunk 2077 numerous improvements and even new content. For example, there are four new flats that V can acquire. In addition, a lot has been done with the skill trees and perks, for which we provide you with a detailed overview.
