After a year without any significant updates, the community has given up hope for the online mode.

Update July 14, 2022: The mourning ceremony for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode has now taken place. On Twitter, fans duly bid farewell with the hashtags RedDeadOnline. The reason for this is the enormous lack of notable updates.

After a long silence, Rockstar Games has only recently spoken out about the future of Red Dead Online. However, the disappointing announcements have not stopped fans from attending the funeral.

Original news from 06 July 2022: The single player of Red Dead Redemption 2 was a masterpiece – we even gave it over 90 points in the test! But the online mode of the Western game was nowhere near as successful as Rockstar’s other brand GTA 5, where regular major updates are still being released after nine years. On the anniversary of Red Dead Online’s last major event, disappointed fans are now organising a funeral for the game they thought was dead.

All info about the funeral

On 13 July 2021, the Blood Money update breathed some life into the bleak online mode for the last time. On the anniversary, i.e. on 13 July this year, the game is to be put into the ground for the remaining fans. The funeral service was organised by the Twitter channel Red Dead News.

You can throw your character into the fanciest suit and find a cosy spot in the open world together with friends to commemorate the unloved mode. You can then post a screenshot of your action on Twitter using the hashtags SaveRedDeadOnline.

Since SaveRedDeadOnline has been around for a while and Rockstar Games hasn’t commented on it yet, it’s safe to assume that won’t change this time either. But if enough people show their interest in the online mode, who knows, maybe the game will rise from the grave again.

Would you look forward to new updates to Red Dead Online or would you rather enjoy the single player story with Arthur Morgan once again? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
