From now on you can get almost all DLCs for Mass Effect and Dragon Age for free and permanently. We explain how you can secure them

Good news for role-playing game fans: From now on, publisher EA is making almost all DLCs for older Mass Effect and Dragon Age games available for free. We explain to you which expansions you can now pick up.

These DLCs are now free

Those who still have a Bioware classic or two lying around on their Origin account can rejoice. From now on, almost all DLCs and expansions that you could buy so far are yours

The games in question are the following:

  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • Dragon Age 2
  • Mass Effect
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Mass Effect 3

For the aforementioned titles you will get almost all singleplayer DLCs for free, but with a few exceptions: The expansion Dragon Age Origins: Awakening for the first Dragon Age you still have to buy via the Origin webstore, also the bonuses from various Deluxe and Collectors editions are not included.

How to get the DLCs: Log into the Origin app and search for one of the titles mentioned in your library and click on the Additional Content tab. In the list that then appears, you can get all the available DLCs by clicking on the Get it now for free button.

Why is EA doing this? The paid Bioware Points will be completely abolished on 11 October 2022. Therefore, all expansions that you had to unlock directly in the game with these points are now free. Other Bioware premium currencies from newer games are not affected by this.

What happens to leftover Bioware Points? If you do indeed still have unused Bioware Points in your account, there is now only one way to use them: You can use them to buy Lootboxes in the multiplayer mode of Mass Effect 3.
