For the young G2 pro m0NESY, the CS:GO career seems to take over everything. Schooling therefore has to take a back seat.
In an interview with Dexerto on Thursday, CS:GO talent Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov spoke about his career so far and the risks he has had to take to achieve his dream. Schooling in particular suffers.
M0NESY’s love for CS:GO began at the age of five. Even back then, the Russian watched his brother play Counter-Strike 1.6. Before the young talent joined the junior team of the renowned organisation Natus Vincere, he already played in smaller teams. However, since then, his schooling also began to suffer greatly. Due to practices and tournaments, m0NESY was unable to attend several school lessons.
Currently, his education is still on hold. Although m0NESY is at an esports college, even there the young pro is clearly more focused on CS:GO. “I haven’t been there since 1 September last year,” says m0NESY about his absence from school.

At least his involvement in Valve’s tactical shooter paid off. m0NESY made a name for himself in the CS:GO scene with Natus Vincere Junior and received countless offers as a result. In the end, he chose G2 Esports for a pretty simple reason: “I just wanted to play in a good team. I didn’t look at contract or salary.” m0NESY hopes to learn a lot at G2 Esports and end up winning the Major.
