Yesterday afternoon, Naughty Dog shared a new video for The Last of Us Part I. It highlights the graphics improvements between the original and the remake. Even though the differences are clearly visible, many wonder if this justifies the hefty price tag.

Even though many are looking forward to The Last of Us Part I, the planned remaster is a source of discussion. Among other things, the question is whether a purchase price of 80 euros is really appropriate. In a (Blogpost) PlayStation emphasises the graphical advantages and gameplay features of the PS5 version. But even with these upgrades and the 60+ accessibility features, the price still doesn’t seem reasonable. The comparison video shared yesterday also fuels this discussion again.

Clearly, there’s no denying the visual upgrade from The Last of Us Part I (tragic if it were otherwise). Still, many community members can’t understand the high price tag. Some argue that the release of The Last of Us was not even 10 years ago and the remaster for the PS4 was released shortly after. Is there really a need for a PS5 remaster? Especially when Part II was originally released for the PS4?

In the end, it’s up to you whether you buy the remaster on 2 September. If you are a big fan of the brand and want to enjoy the PS5 boost, you will probably get your money’s worth.
