A patch released on September 2 has generated the most used perk in Warzone, adding more variety to Season 5 of Warzone.

Few perks have been as controversial as Serpentine since its introduction in Warzone. Developer Raven Software has now ensured with its September 2 patch that players should think twice about including the controversial perk in their loadout.

Serpentine – hated and loved

Some of the perks in Warzone are simply must-haves and belong in almost every loadout. Overkill, Battle Scout and Serpentine are not only the most versatile perks in Warzone, but are also among the most popular in their category over multiple seasons.

Serpentine in particular has enjoyed great popularity since its introduction in Season 3. The perk can be found in 36.03% of all loadouts and is thus the undisputed number 1, even ahead of Haste and Cold Blood, both of which have already been changed and generated several times.

While some might turn up their noses at the nerf, for many in the Warzone community it doesn’t come soon enough. Even though the controversial perk is hugely popular, calls for a nerf have been growing louder.

A 20% damage reduction while sprinting seemed too strong to a large portion of the playerbase. With the new patch, this damage reduction has now been limited to tactical sprinting. Since this type of sprint is not only active for a limited duration, but also has a cool-down, Serpentine can only be used for a short time window from now on.

Since the patch, players must pay close attention to when they use their Tactical Sprint in order to benefit from Serpentine.

Unfortunately, you can’t increase your Tactical Sprint with Rush, as both Serpentine and Rush are used in the first perk slot. You can find the full patch notes (here).
