On this date, the Dead Space remake will be released and the USG Ishimura will have to be cleansed of disgusting Necromorphs once again. For all those who want to plunge into the nightmare on PC and Steam, there is now pleasant news.

Dead Space on Steam, all without Origin

Steam version will run without Origin: As EA confirms to the US website (PCGamer) the Steam version will do completely without the rather unpopular client Origin. Not a matter of course, numerous games from publisher Electronic Arts also have to be launched via Origin, even if it was purchased on Steam.

Of course, there have always been exceptions in the past – such as the racing game F1 2021. The Dead Space remake will now follow in the same vein for its release on 27 January 2023.

EA App replaces Origin

However, gamers shouldn”t necessarily expect this to now apply to every EA game. For example, as PCGamer notes, the (Steam page) of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still notes that the game will not be without Origin support.

Move coming up: In addition, EA is currently working on a new PC client that will replace Origin in the foreseeable future. The so-called EA App has only recently left its beta phase and will be launched soon according to the (official website The move from Origin to the EA App should be as easy as possible  – games, saves and other data will be taken along.

(This is what the EA App looks like, which is supposed to replace Origin in the future. By the way, the download is already available, soon the complete move should take place).
