What is DMZ mode about?
When is DMZ mode coming and does it cost anything?
The DMZ mode is scheduled to be playable right at the release of CoD Warzone 2 on November 16, 2022 . Since it will be released as part of Warzone 2, DMZ will be completely free of charge, just like the Battle Royale mode.
How it might play
The new DMZ mode relies heavily on gameplay that resembles Escape From Tarkov, Hunt Showdown or the Dark Zone from The Division . However, very little concrete info about the gameplay is known yet. The following facts are confirmed so far:
- DMZ will be a large sandbox in which players choose their own victory conditions. At the end of the round, you must escape the map alive at extraction points.
- You enter the large open map Al Mazrah, complete your objectives and then decide when to leave the war zone again.
- You bring equipment into the match, but you lose it if you die.
- There will be AI enemies that control large parts of the map.
- In some places, the AI enemies will build veritable fortresses and in general, the AI enemies should provide a great challenge.
- The AI is even said to be able to adapt to the approach of the players.
- It is definitely possible to act in a team. However, you can also concentrate on hunting down other players on your own.
- There are a variety of activities on the map that you can take on.
- You could either complete your mission objectives quietly, or shoot around loudly.
- Of course, you can also collect loot on the map.
There were already many leaks in the run-up with even more details about the mission sequence in DMZ. However, not all of them have to be true in the end. The (Twitter account Reality) claims to have discovered the objectives of the new mode in the Warzone Mobile files. Reality is by far not as established as other insiders and leakers, so the information must be taken with special caution. In the meantime, however, the well-known insider TheXclusiveAce (made similar statements). Allegedly, you have to be about:
search the terrain for secret information collect weapons from fallen AI enemies eliminate enemy players defeat AI bosses rescue hostages loot a safe and defend against enemies loot supplies and/or money deliver a package to a specific location reach a specific location destroy anti-aircraft guns empty vehicle gas tanks eliminate a specific target secure radioactive material achieve kills with specific weapon types
- search the terrain for secret information.
- collect weapons from fallen AI enemies.
- eliminate enemy players
- defeat AI boss enemies
- Rescue hostages
- loot a safe and defend yourself against enemies
- loot supplies and/or money
- deliver a package to a certain place
- reach a certain place
- destroy anti-aircraft guns
- empty petrol tanks of vehicles
- eliminate a specific target
- secure radioactive material
- get kills with certain types of weapons
It is possible that you can complete several objectives in one round: So you might have to destroy the guns as the main objective, but you can also loot supplies along the way. In the end, the focus is obviously on safe extraction.
What”s in it for me in the end? It”s still unclear what exactly you actually earn in the matches. It is possible that you collect in-game currency for your operator, which you then use to buy new equipment. You might also keep the weapons you collect – or they will automatically be converted into a monetary amount and credited to your account. The developers have not yet revealed anything about this.
What”s the appeal?
Hunt: Showdown follows the High Risk, High Reward principle
Above all, the thrill and the slow and deliberate approach are the focus here. If we act rashly and loudly, we can be scouted more easily by opposing players. If your team is killed by other players, you will lose any equipment you were carrying.
