There”s life in Silent Hill after all: Konami has announced not only a remake of Part 2, but three more new games and even a feature film for the horror series.

Fans have been hoping for a long time, Konami all the longer for it. But it”s finally official: Silent Hill is coming back, and it”s got quite a package of new (and old) games in it. Not only have three completely new titles been announced, but also a remake of the horror milestone Silent Hill 2 and even a feature film.

In this article we give you an overview of all the announced Silent Hill games and what we know about them so far. One thing is for sure: For horror fan Fabiano, the unveiling should be a dream come true. Silent Hill 2 marks the return of his favourite story game, which is almost unplayable in its original version today.

Silent Hill: What new games have been announced?

First things first: In a livestream from 19 to 20 October 2022, Konami officially announced three new Silent Hill games as well as the remake of Part 2. The titles of the projects are as follows:

  • Silent Hill 2 Remake
  • Silent Hill: Townfall
  • Silent Hill: F
  • Silent Hill: Ascension

Silent Hill also returns to the cinema: Last but not least, Return to Silent Hill is also a new feature film from director Christophe Gans. Gans already directed the very first film version of Silent Hill in 2006, but there are currently no concrete details about his new project.

What we know so far about the new Silent Hills

Silent Hill 2 Remake

What kind of game is this? This project is – unsurprisingly – a remake of the original Silent Hill 2 from 2001. The remake is being created by developer team Bloober (Layers of Fear), while veterans of the original such as concept artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka are also involved in the project.

The remake is being developed in the Unreal Engine 5, uses both Lumen and Naninte technology and comes with a revised battle system and locations. There will be no loading times at all. The Silent Hill 2 remake will be released for the PC on Steam and time-exclusively for the Playstation 5 – there is currently no release date.

What is Silent Hill 2 about? The story is about the widower James Sunderland, who receives a letter from his actually dead wife Mary and therefore travels to the abandoned and mysterious town of Silent Hill. There he not only meets shady characters, but also has to deal with grotesque creatures.

You can watch the first teaser trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake as follows:

The original is considered one of the horror classics par excellence and is legendary especially for its dark and melancholic creepy atmosphere. Also, no game fan should miss the story of Silent Hill 2!

Silent Hill: Townfall

What kind of game will this be? Silent Hill: Townfall is being made in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive (Stray, Solar Ash, Outer Wilds) and No Code (Observation, Stories Untold). The first teaser trailer for the project remains rather cryptic, but is bursting with atmosphere. Exactly what kind of game Townfall is to be and for which platforms it is to be released remains open at the moment.

Silent Hill: F

What kind of game is this? Silent Hill: F takes place in 1960s Japan, combining Japanese style with horror elements. Among others, Ryukishi07, a writer known for his visual crime and horror novels, is responsible for the project. There is no information about the gameplay, the release and platforms here either.

Silent Hill: Ascension

What kind of game is this? Silent Hill: Ascension is less of a classic video game and much more of an interactive streaming experience. It is fitting that filmmaker J.J. Abrams (Star Wars, Star Trek) and his studio Bad Robot Games are involved in the project. The release is already planned for 2023.
