If you love empty streets, you’ll hate this Modern Warfare 2 map. Does Santa Sena Border go down in history as the worst CoD map of all time?

There were a total of 11 maps at the release of Modern Warfare 2, most of which turned out pretty well and were also fun to play. However, one map stands out and is not everyone’s cup of tea due to its “special design”.

Most of you have probably never experienced the kilometre-long traffic jams at border crossings that gleefully awaited every motorist on their way to a well-deserved summer holiday in the days before the Schengen Agreement. Thanks to Activision’s new traffic jam simulator, younger players can finally make up for this experience. The new Modern Warfare 2 map Santa Sena Border, which is supposed to depict a border crossing clogged with countless cars, was anything but well received by the community.

Call of Duty’s campaigns have always been known for their tubular form and one-dimensional levels. With Santa Sena Border, however, the developers have now even managed to transfer this unmotivated map design to multiplayer. The map consists of a single long traffic jam at a border crossing and can hardly be surpassed in terms of unimaginativeness.

The Reddit post now has over 1,000 comments and already compares the map with maps such as Shipment or Piccadilly, which have a similarly simple design. For many users, Santa Sena Border is already one of the worst maps in Call of Duty history and offers little in the way of positives apart from meme potential.

Flanking? Good luck!

You don’t feel like squeezing between the hundreds of cars, one of which explodes every two seconds and takes you with it to your death? No problem, then just take one of the other two paths, which also just lead straight ahead and offer hardly any possibility to effectively attack your opponents via the flanks.

By the way, this map is especially fun in “Position” mode, where the objective shifts every few minutes, sending you from one end to the other. If you actually make the mistake of trying to take it in order to win the match, you will be shot over five to ten times on the way there before you finally arrive and notice that the area to be taken has already moved to the other end of the map.

Even though the community asked before the release of Modern Warfare 2 for more traditional “three-lane maps” to be integrated again, this was probably meant differently than it was ultimately implemented in Santa Sena Border.
