After a nail-biting Series, DRX was able to beat record holder Faker and his team to earn the hard-fought World Championship title.
The two Korean teams engaged in a thrilling five-game battle. After Game 3, which T1 won, many fans of Faker and Co. were already confident of victory. DRX, however, was able to turn the tide once again and managed to hold its nerve in the decisive battle for the Elder Dragon.

History will be made at LoL Worlds 2022 in the final on 6 November. Either record winner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok takes home his fourth Worlds title or DRX could secure the big triumph after a rocky road through the play-in stage. It will also be the first time since 2017 that two LCK teams will battle it out in the final for the World Cup win.
T1”s mid-laner is a perennial favourite at Worlds 2022. As well as holding the most kills, the top player also holds the most matches played at the Worlds. Furthermore, Faker shares the title of the only player to have won the Worlds three times so far together with T1”s head coach Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong. However, that could change next Sunday.
At San Francisco”s Chase Center, Faker will once again have the chance to snatch the coveted Worlds title together with his team. This would give the Mid-Laner his fourth win in the bag and set a new record. For this to happen, T1 must first get past South Korean league rivals DRX, who could cause a sensation at the 2022 Worlds. After all, the LCK team is the first finalist who had to fight their way through the play-in stage beforehand.

Before, some teams made it from the play-in stage to the knockout stage, but they were mostly defeated in the semi-finals. Both G2 Esports and Cloud9 were knocked out in the semifinals in 2018. In 2017, Team W was the first team to make it from the play-in stage to the semi-finals. DRX, on the other hand, is now not only a finalist, but could now also snatch the title next Sunday.
