For the second time, a 3D artist has recreated some Witcher characters in the Unreal Engine 5. The result is something to be proud of.
What haven’t we had this week? An Unreal Engine 5 news story! But fear not, because today we have something really pretty to look at. More specifically, it’s about The Witcher, which is good news in and of itself. Also, this article is more or less a continuation of an earlier news item from August. What do we mean by that? Let’s go into detail.
The YouTube channel (CG Adventures) has done it again. Once again, popular Witcher characters have been recreated using the Metahuman feature of Unreal Engine 5 to give the many fans an unofficial taste of what the next instalment of the popular role-playing game series might be like.
If you already can’t take it anymore and are thinking Read?

A clear improvement on the first video
At the beginning of the article we mentioned that this is not the first attempt by CG Adventures to render the Witcher characters in the Unreal Engine 5. At that time, however, the result was only partially convincing, especially Geralt looked anything but successful in the eyes of many fans, despite the powerful Metahuman editor.
Meta-what? With the help of this feature, it is possible to create lifelike-looking faces, which means not only high-resolution textures, fine shading and curly whiskers, but above all realistic facial expressions. The latter, in particular, often exposes even the most lifelike-looking characters in modern titles.
The second video is a clear improvement in this respect. In the current version, Geralt looks like…well, Geralt. And we also easily recognise his foster daughter Ciri as well as our favourite vampire Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy after their UE5 facelift.
Here, check out the Geralt comparison:
What Geralt, Ciri, Triss, Yennefer and Co. will look like in their first official Unreal Engine 5 appearance, we will probably only find out in a few years. That’s when the next main part of the Witcher series from CD Projekt RED is due to be released. We have collected all known information about the game for you here:
The Witcher: A New Saga officially announced – this is what is known so far
What do you think of the new video by CG Adventures? Are you more convinced by Geralt than in his first version or are you still not completely satisfied with what has been shown? If not, what aspects bother you? Feel free to write us your thoughts on this in the comments!
