The modders of Fallout London show new material of their ambitious project. Particularly exciting is the London metro.

Another year around and Fallout: London continues to take shape. The fan project is a complete mod of Fallout 4, which is still scheduled for release in 2023.

Just in time for the end of 2022, the modders released an approximately twelve-minute video on Youtube that shows off their current progress. You can watch the clip right here:

What to see?

At last, real train rides

The biggest news right at the beginning of the video is that the modders show and tell that they have implemented fully functioning trains, recreating part of the real London underground. You will be able to get on the tube, run around and fight on the moving train, and of course get off at the next stop. All without cutscenes or black screens in between. This is unique in the Fallout universe so far.

Even if it sounds like the experience of every commuter in Munich, we are of course still in Fallout – so who knows who or what awaits us in the London underground stations.

The only working train in Fallout 4 is in Nuka Transit World and takes us to Nuka World in a cutscene, which can be purchased as an add-on to Fallout 4. But there was no freedom of movement.

More info from the video

Not only trains, but also other features are presented in the video:

  • Music tracks: The modders report in the video that they have already collected over 100 music tracks of which over 40 for the in-game radio. Some songs are said to be written specifically for the different factions and you will be able to hear some British classics in jazzy versions.
  • Dangerous Robots: Especially dangerous are new robots that can chase you with weapons. One of them has the shape of a typical British letterbox Another is called Walker and is shaped like a large running bomb that blows itself up.
  • Comics and Magazines: In the game world there are some 005Comics that you can collect. This is, of course, an allusion to the British agent 007, better known as James Bond. Furthermore, issues of the magazine D.I.Y. are supposed to work like the issues of Picket Fences in the original game.
  • Locations and Factions: The London Aquarium acts as a kind of broken Sea Life with marine monsters. Thames Haven in turn is an abandoned train station. As a faction, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate is introduced in more detail and their background is explained.

What we already know about Fallout: London

Fallout: London is based on Fallout 4. In the mod we can fight our way through the English capital London in the apocalyptic Fallout universe of the year 2237. So far, all we know about the story is that we wake up as a test subject in an underground research facility. You can read more about it in this (Overview article).
