A dataminer digs up new images and information on Battlefield 2042”s next map. Season 4 looks set to take us to South Africa
Season 4 of Battlefield 2042 is likely to be released soon, with insiders talking about February 28 as the planned release date. Just before the launch of the big update 3.2, there is now more information about the contents of Season 4. A dataminer shows us new images of the upcoming map.
This is what Flashpoint is supposed to look like
Famous Battlefield insider Temporyal shows us via Twitter pictures of various areas of the new map, which is apparently to be called Flashpoint, and also lists various important locations on the map:

It is apparently an industrial area in South Africa with construction sites and a huge tunnel. Among other things, you are supposed to fight in the following areas:
- A huge tunnel that is still under construction. This was also already visible on the first official image of the map:
- A fuel processing plant
- Storage and maintenance areas
- A reactor
- A water treatment plant
It is not yet known exactly what kind of plant the complex is. According to DICE, however, the map will be smaller than the previous one and will allow for short-range combat. It is unlikely that even vehicles will be able to penetrate the underground areas.
How reliable is the information? The dataminer Temporyal has correctly predicted a lot of new content for Battlefield 2042 in the past and apparently only uses information he discovers in the game files. While developer plans can still change briefly and content can be cancelled or come later, in this case the new map has even already been confirmed by the developers:
What else will Season 4 bring?
Not many details are known yet, but Season 4 is supposed to be similar in scope to the previous seasons. In addition to the map, we will also get a new specialist, who will be integrated into the new class system as a scout, as well as new weapons, some of which will be transferred from Battlefield Portal to the standard game modes.
But there are also some completely new guns. In addition, there is of course a Battle Pass. There will probably also be an event again, like last time in Season 3:
The next update – probably on 31 January – will be Update 3.2, which will bring back the classes, as well as a big map rework and new portal weapons. You can find the details known so far in our overview, and we will provide you with more information on the release.
Since the disappointing launch, a lot has happened again and the development continues to pick up speed!
How do you like the new map Flashpoint? Does the scenario look promising, or would you have preferred a completely different map? Feel free to write it in the comments!
