Xbox pulls back the curtain on their new Steller Shift Xbox Wireless Controller, which comes with a new feature for Xbox console players.

Xbox has revealed its new Xbox Wireless Controller, dubbed the Stellar Shift Special Edition. The new controller comes in a shiny, bluish-purple color, and console owners will also have a new feature they can take advantage of whenever the new controller is connected to any Xbox Series X/S console.

While Xbox Design Lab has been there for Xbox and PC players to create and customize new controllers to suit their tastes, Xbox regularly releases new wireless controllers of different varieties. With plenty of color options to choose from, from the standard Carbon Black and Robot White to the later special editions such as Lunar Shift and Aqua Shift, there are plenty of Xbox Wireless Controllers to suit the needs of gamers. The newest edition in Xbox’s Shift lineup looks to keep up that trend.

The Stellar Shift Xbox Wireless Controller retails for $69.99 and is available directly from Xbox or authorized retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. A few days ago, news of the controller’s existence was leaked online by Amazon listings in Europe, and keen-eyed users were quick to trace it. In addition to the controller’s announcement, Xbox stated that Xbox Series X/S users that purchase the Stellar Shift controller and connect it to their console will be treated to a new Dynamic Background to match the controller’s space theme. The background will be featured on the console’s home screen upon login.

As the latest design in Xbox’s line of unique-looking products, the Stellar Shift controller has a shiny, bluish-purple surface on the front side that shines a blue tint when light is reflected off of it. The controller’s face buttons are purple, and the handle grip has a distinct purple pattern on it as well. A more indigo tone adorns the controller’s D-pad, bumpers, triggers, and sticks. The Stellar Shift controller will also include a pair of AA batteries out of the box to get players started. However, the controller is also compatible with the Xbox Rechargeable Battery and USB-C kit.

While other controllers from third parties are viable alternatives, the Xbox Wireless Controller has widely been considered the best option for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One users. With the Stellar Shift design joining the Aqua Shift and Lunar Shift in Xbox’s growing Shift line, there is no telling what other colors and designs are in the works at Microsoft.
