This game is flying completely under the radar right now: the Splinter Cell-inspired Project TH wows with a pretty impressive gameplay trailer.
Have you heard of Project TH? Probably not. The game by South Korean developer EVR Studio doesn”t exactly have a catchy name and seems to have flown under the radar in the gaming landscape.
Yet the Splinter Cell-inspired project comes with a pretty impressive trailer that should appeal especially to fans of tactical shooters with a single-player focus. So before we get to the hard facts, it”s best if you just take a look at the official trailer for Project TH for yourself.
This is what Project TH looks like: Not only does it reveal the impressive graphics, but there are also a few gameplay snippets to be seen.
What kind of game will Project TH be?
The Story: Project TH is set in Korea in the near future, where the South and North have been reunited. It focuses on three characters: Ji Jeong Tae, a former North Korean soldier who comes to the South on a military exchange programme. Gavi, a member of a K-pop group called Ordo, and a mysterious terrorist known as Ghost.
Incidentally, the TH in the game title TH stands for Two Hearts – as two hearts – which are meant to symbolise the separation of the two (formerly) hostile countries with different political beliefs.
Gameplay: Project TH is described by its developers as a mix of interactive drama and an action adventure. The game is therefore unlikely to be a thoroughbred tactical shooter. However, the EVR studios also emphasise that there will be a focus on infiltration and action-packed combat scenarios that we control from a third-person perspective. A tech demo on YouTube reminds us a bit of Quantic Dream games such as Heavy Rain in terms of gameplay.
By the way: If you are more interested in classic shooters that are coming out this year, we can of course help you. In the following overview you will find the most exciting representatives of the genre that you should have on your radar in 2023.
Who”s behind it?
Who”s behind it?
Project TH is being developed by the South Korean developer EVR Studios, which has so far only released the virtual reality game (ProjectM: Dream) and (ProjectM: Daydream) respectively. It is a dating simulation with a virtual reality focus, which convinces more through its graphics and less through the gameplay.
Steam users are rather divided about ProjectM: Daydream, especially criticising the brevity of the five-euro sim and its dialogue. On the other hand, there is much praise for the graphics and presentation, which makes players optimistic about the future of VR.
So whether EVR Studios could pull off an action-adventure or stealth shooter of the Splinter Cell calibre that the developers have been working towards remains to be seen. Apart from the impressive graphics from the VR game ProjectM, the team does not yet have much to show. At least the first trailer arouses curiosity, so that Project TH is definitely something to keep an eye on – even if cautious scepticism is of course appropriate.
Now it”s your turn: What do you think of Project TH and what questions are burning under your nails? Does the trailer alone arouse your interest or do you prefer to wait and see?
