In a short video message, Game Director Rich Aldridge addressed the community and talked about the future of the strategy game.

No new content has been released for Total War: Warhammer 3 since Immortal Empires was released along with the Champions of Chaos DLC. The last major update 2.3 was released in November, since then the developers have been shrouded in silence. What new DLCs are planned for 2023 is still completely unknown.

Now game director Rich Aldridge has broken the long silence and addressed the community in a video message on Twitter. In it, he explains why new expansions are delayed, what is planned for 2023 and asks for a little patience and understanding.

Three major DLCs in 2023

The most important piece of information in the news is probably that Creative Assembly is definitely working on new content for the strategy game and expects to release three major expansions throughout the year. The first expansion even has a date: April is supposed to be the time.

Aldridge was more cagey about the two subsequent DLCs. Here he mentioned summer and winter 2023 as rough timetables. Exactly what kind of DLCs these will be is still unknown. It has been suspected for some time that the Chaos Dwarfs will be the first big race pack. Aldridge at least promises that a lot of heart and soul has gone into the new expansion:

When you get your hands on this DLC, you”ll very definitely realise what a passion project this has been for us. And why we”re taking so much more time to get it right for you. It will be an incredibly great experience“.

Be respectful

The original plans for Warhammer 3 and Immortal Empires had to be adjusted a bit, according to Aldridge. The team was simply forced to mend some fences after the release of Warhammer 3 and had to invest a lot of time in patching Warhammer 3 and rounding out Immortal Empires. Of course, this has now resulted in new content being delayed.

However,

Aldridge also asks in his video not to be tongue-tied when communicating with the team. Especially the social media managers of Creative Assembly have to listen to a lot of things on a regular basis and that”s why Aldridge asks the community to be more respectful when talking to these important team members in his video.
