For the final push on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, Bioware enlists old familiar help: Mark Darrah, programmer and executive producer from the golden days in Edmonton.
Bioware is currently in the home stretch of development on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf To support this final phase, a veteran returns: Mark Darrah, lead programmer of Baldur”s Gate and executive producer of the Dragen series (parts 1 to 3).
Darrah is to assist as a consultant, BioWare”s general manager Gary McKay told Gamesbeat”s (colleagues). He had previously left the studio at the end of 2020.
While we combine the new experience [of a Dreadwolf] with the legacy, Mark Darrah will join our team as a consultant. He brings years of experience from working on the Dragon Age series. We are proud to have him join us.
BioWare general manager Gary McKay
Darrah is one of a group of developers who fans consider to be synonymous with Bioware”s golden age, which preceded the more inglorious period marked by failures with Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem
But Darrah is not free of this: He also worked on Anthem, now finally buried by EA and Bioware in a similar capacity as he did previously on Dragon Age.
In addition, the team around the new Mass Effect is also helping to successfully push Dreadwolf over the finish line, according to Gary McKay. A core team remains on the pre-production of Mass Effect 4.
Dreadwolf does not yet have an official release date. All we know from Bioware is that the game reached the alpha milestone last October and is now fully playable from start to finish. What follows and is sure to take place continuously since then is a long phase of polishing.
What are your hopes for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf? Are you looking forward to the new installment at all, or has the series lost you by now? Or maybe you”re just more excited for the new Mass Effect? And do you think Mark Darrah can really steer final decisions in the right direction from the point of view of fans of the old Bioware? Let us know in the comments!
