The creepy experts at Supermassive Games are turning the multiplayer hit into a complex story adventure for single players.

One of the most played games on Steam for years is Dead by Daylight: The asymmetrical horror game, in which well-known horror characters such as Michael Myers, Ghostface and Freddy Krueger hunt down four other players, rarely makes headlines, but has a loyal fan base.

The title is now celebrating its seventh birthday and the developers are handing out plenty of presents: not only is there a big event in the game, as every year, but there are also exciting news: The DbD universe is getting growth in the form of two new games.

New story game from prominent developers

The big news was announced by Stephen Mulroney, vice president of developer Behavior Interactive, in the birthday stream of their hit game – you can see the relevant clip here:

The first announced game in the Dead by Daylight universe comes from Midwinter Entertainment, who were bought by Behavior about a year ago and previously made a name for themselves with the thoroughly accomplished but hugely unsuccessful Scavengers.

Like their first work, their as yet nameless DbD game will be a multiplayer title with a focus on co-op. So far, however, we only know that it will be about the themes of greed and lust.

The second title currently in the works at Supermassive Games is even more exciting. The British developers have proven themselves to be real experts in cinematic horror games with Until Dawn, The Quarry and the Dark Pictures series.

According to producer Traci Tufte, you can once again look forward to everything that makes Supermassive’s games special:

‘We’ve worked hard to combine the tension, plot possibilities and branching narrative of a Supermassive game with the mythology of Dead by Daylight’.

Incidentally, the two announced titles are not the first spin-off: with Hooked on You, there was a bizarre mix of psycho-horror and dating simulation on Steam last year.

When the two new games are to be released is currently still completely unclear. According to the developers, however, it will take quite some time, because, as they say in the video, they still have a lot of work ahead of them.
