The Ubisoft Forward show will show the first footage of Assassins Creed Nexus. But hints of content for the VR spin-off have been building up for some time now.

Slipping back into the skin of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, sneaking through the renaissance cities of Italy, climbing buildings and finally plunging gracefully down – into a haystack, of course. Those who harbour this dream could be happy with the probably soon to be released Assassin’s Creed Nexus.

Because the new VR spin-off of the Assassin’s Creed series will be officially, publicly shown for the first time at the Ubisoft Forward show on Monday, 12 June 2023, from 7pm, according to the French publisher. It will then come out later this year for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 3, which is the VR headset from the company behind Facebook.

You can watch the show on Ubisoft’s official channels on (Youtube) or (Twitch)

And if you already want to get a glimpse of the next regular Assassin’s Creed title, the leaked gameplay of Mirage is recommended. There will certainly be something new to see at the Ubisoft show.

What is Assassin’s Creed Nexus?

Officially, virtually nothing is known about the content of the VR title, which has been in development for some time. But if you believe the recognised leaker Tom Henderson, you can look forward to the following. He claims to have played Nexus himself and is impressed by what he was supposedly able to experience.

  • Classic gameplay from the series, such as that offered by the Assassin’s Creed Ezio Collection for example.
  • Throughout different levels, thanks to VR glasses, you will become Ezio, Cassandra, Connor or Haytham up close and personal.
  • The game is scheduled for release in September 2023

And there are good reasons to be optimistic about accuracy here For Henderson had already made public some months ago then still secret details about Nexus, which have now turned out to be correct

Successor already decided?

According to the report on Henderson’s website, Ubisoft’s management is already discussing a successor, since Nexus is currently expected to be a hit This successor could then probably also appear for other VR platforms

Theoretically, Ubisoft should also be allowed to port the first part, since the exclusive contract was terminated due to budget cuts at Meta. But Assassin’s Creed Nexus was already too far developed at that time. The effort to adapt it for VR platforms afterwards would be correspondingly high.

Would you like to see the first gameplay? There’s not quite that in the grey expanses of the internet yet, but on Reddit a user has posted an alleged video of the calibration menu from the title:

Assassin’s Creed Nexus, set to release in the coming 12 months, leaked a couple of weeks ago

All leaks about details of the game, by the way, fit the title perfectly. Because the word Nexus stands for connection, link or intertwining, depending on the context. And no matter which of these terms you take, it describes the derivable concept of the game more than rudimentary.

Polishing your Meta Quest VR goggles yet? Would you like the title to be a regular title for PC and consoles based on the leaks or do the rumours leave you completely cold anyway? Feel free to post your thoughts and opinions in the comments!
