Good news for fans of Solo: A Star Wars Story: the Lando series starring Donald Glover is finally moving forward – three years after it was originally announced.
Had you not given up hope on the Lando series yet? Then it has actually paid off now: After the spin-off to the Star Wars universe’s biggest box-office flop was announced back in 2020, it’s been suspiciously quiet about the project with Donald Glover for a very long time.

Donald Glover stars and writes: But now it seems the new Star Wars series for Disney Plus is finally getting off the ground: As Above the Line reports, Donald Glover is said to be personally writing the script for Lando, along with his brother Stephen.
Glover himself is of course not only known as an actor or rapper Childish Gambino but has already been responsible for excellent productions such as Atlanta. The fact that he is taking the reins himself with Lando should definitely make his (Star Wars) fans optimistic.
Many unanswered questions: When the Lando series will (finally) appear on Disney Plus, however, remains an open question. Especially in view of the ongoing Hollywood strike it is simply impossible to say to what extent work on the project will be able or allowed to progress at all.
Either way, you should be prepared for a long wait. Even with this news, it will be a while before the script is written and production can even begin. What exactly the Lando series will be about and whether, for example, Alden Ehrenreich will appear as Han Solo, can only be speculated at the moment.
Has no one informed the original author?
The original author is out …: But for the original author of Lando Justin Simien, this might not be such happy news. Originally, Simien was supposed to write the Star Wars series, but his work was put on hold by Lucasfilm in 2020. Just a few days ago the screenwriter revealed that he hadn’t heard anything about Lando since then either.
.. but did anyone tell him that? On Instagram, Simien now let it slip that he himself only found out about Donald and Stephen Glover writing the series himself via social media – and that he should therefore be dropped from the project. Apparently no one informed Justin Simien that he had been fired.
Simien, however, is taking the news quite calmly, expressing on Instagram his delight that Donald and Stephen Glover are now working together on Lando.
