Although Diablo 4’s first season was a disappointment to some, it’s just the start of a long-running care of (Blizzard’s action RPG) In a Campfire live chat on YouTube, the developers talked about the next steps after patch 1.1.1. The goal is to buff some classes, especially the barbarian and the sorceress, and to work on more content for all players. A possible introduction of pets for players, which are so popular in MMORPGs, is also being considered.

Community Manager Adam Fletcher stressed that they will always listen to the players and the Diablo 4 community for new implementations and updates to existing content. Currently, however, balancing and gameplay adjustments have priority. Content that keeps players busy for a longer period of time and provides more activities has priority over cosmetic gimmicks, according to the developers. But since Diablo 4 also has a Ingame Shop more cosmetic items are probably only a matter of time, including pets. Director Joe Shely also shares this opinion, saying that pets could come into the game at some point in the future, but for the time being they will have to take a back seat, as class customisations are more important.

A good and understandable strategy by the developers to focus on the main of Diablo 4 and more urgent improvements first. It is also questionable whether cuddly dogs, cats and other little animals fit in as companions in the gloomy world of Sanctuary. This would definitely require a slightly different approach than in, for example, Final Fantasy 14 or World of Warcraft, where pets are part of the cartoonish fun.
