The new strategy game Gord from Covenant Studios released on August 17, 2023 for Xbox, Playstation and PC and should appeal to anyone interested in the dark medieval and occult. One of the founders of Covenant is Stan Just, who previously worked on The Witcher 3 at CD Projekt Red. Gord is a single-player title set in a gritty Slavic world. Players take on the role of a village leader who must protect his village from the dangers of the dark forest, witches, monsters and worse.

To do this, you must collect resources, construct buildings and look after your villagers as well as assign them tasks. In addition to the classic building strategy game elements, Gord also contains some unusual elements. For example, players must also keep an eye on the mental health of their villagers. This can be affected by hunger, the death of relatives or prolonged darkness. You will regularly have to go on exploration tours and face dangerous scenarios in which you can regularly lose villagers. Only permanent upgrades and a tactical approach can help you here.

Once you have completed the campaign, you can create your own missions in the scenario editor. Here you can create your own challenges and stand up to the dangers of the wilderness with their survivors. Gord is available from (immediately for 34.99 Euro) Pre-orderers of the Deluxe Edition will receive additional bonuses, such as the soundtrack, a digital artbook and an additional scenario. Fans of dark fantasy and building games should definitely not miss this indie title.
