The medieval battlefield Warhaven now has a release date. The developers revealed this in a new trailer at gamescom. Along the way, there was a bit of fresh background story.

In less than a month you will be able to put on your chainmail and saddle your warhorses in Warhaven. That is certain after the opening night of gamescom. Because the medieval battlefield now has an official release date.

As developer and publisher Nexon announced during the stage show with Canadian host Geoff Keighley, the release of the knight brawler game is planned for 21 September 2023. And best of all, you get to join the fray for free – Warhaven will be Free 2 Play.

New trailer shows sad backstory

But the date is not the only news around Warhaven. Because at gamescom there was also a fresh trailer for the game. And it is surprisingly dark. We have embedded the video for you right here:

The trailer shows the background story of one of the characters of Warhaven. In it, the current knight recalls how he was pressed into the king’s service as a young man. He was beaten, branded, his home village burned to the ground.

However, the humiliations he experienced did not break the knight, but made him stronger. In the trailer, the developers show how he single-handedly storms a castle and smashes the coffin of the now-deceased king.

On the way, all kinds of enemy soldiers get in his way. The sword fights in the render video are wonderfully staged and action-packed.

What is Warhaven all about?

In Warhaven, you can choose from a variety of different heroes and engage in combat against up to 16 players. Not only do you have to keep an eye on your opponents, but you also have to coordinate your own troops on the action-packed battlefield.

What do you think about Warhaven? Do you fancy trying out the promising medieval battlefield in September or do you find the setting used up after For Honor and Chivalry? Drop us a line in the comments!
